DIANA GARCIA, CEO & FOUNDER OF SENSATIONAL BODIES
What moment has defined your journey the most? It could be a win, a loss, a wake up call, something you think of often and realize how different your journey would be if not for that moment.
My weight loss journey which I now describe as my transformation journey. About 6 years ago, I was diagnosed as obese, pre-diabetic and had high cholesterol. At the age of 23, I needed to make drastic lifestyle changes and was prescribed medications. However, taking medications for the rest of my life was not an option, and thus I took matter into my own hands.I went online to find motivation, only to find unrealistic images of what I expected my journey to be like. Along, with individuals only interested in selling a product or image. I began taking the time to learn about food and nutrition and lost 60 pounds. During my weight loss journey, I felt so alone and had very little support. Feeling this way, I wanted to provide support to women during their weight loss journeys. My weight loss journey led to developing a social media following that promoted a community of support, which led to the creation of a wellness business and created a true passion for nutrition. I decided to return to school to obtain my bachelor's in Dietetics and Nutrition to become a Registered Dietitian.
Sometimes life takes unexpected turns into the right direction.
What drives you?
The ability to make an impact. My soul is fueled from hearing other women's stories and results on how I or my product has changed their lives. I like to think that I don’t just help my clients lose weight, I help them discover , transform and nurture sensational person inside and out... and this is what truly drives me.
How are you paving the way for people in your community to succeed? Or opening doors that were once closed?
As a female entrepreneur, I have built my business for women. It is important for me to work with other women. When I am working on a project or need anything done for my business, I go to other women for collaboration. It is important to support other women and give them the opportunity to showcase their gifts and talents.
Most meaningful project to date?
My most meaning project to date has been the creation of my product line.
Advice or a mantra you would like to pass on?
Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying somewhere you don't belong.
